If he's really a mate, see if ya can't steer him to a 9500 Pro instead. They should be about the same in cost if it's a deal, and it's a HELL of a card. As for how much of a bump it is, give me a couple days and I'll give you the numbers. I got a GF4 ti4200 coming in with a PC I bought for a friend and it wouldn't take nothing to pop it in Bubbles and compare it to me GF3. (Like I wasn't planning on it anyways. )

You're right mate! It's an excellent card, the only negative is that it's a bit on the noisy side. Here's a review

What is "something like £35 cheaper" in real money? Sorry, I mean that only humorously...is that about $70us then?

Well the 9500 Pro is an excellent card, and altho it's 'claimed' to be a Ti4200 killer, the results I get with it are comparable to the Ti4600, plus it has DX9 support for future, I myself was considering the Ti4200 but this 9500 pro has won me over, if you can push upto the 9500 pro he won't regret it.

Nice, but...
...the 9500 Pro is faster, plus it'll absolutely SLAUGHTER that card with aniso & AA going. You can actually PLAY games at 4xAA & 8xAF on the 9500 Pro, I've yet to see ANY nVidia card do that.
