7800GT to 7900GTX

Is it worth it? Am i going to see a significant difference? I'm playing at 1680x1050 and my 7800GT is doing fine but i just want more. I could get the card(new, sealed box) for downpayment from friend so I'm tempted.

You would definately be better off with a Geforce 7950.

Alien1 is on a distinguished road

Wait until September
The G80 or Geforce 8 series will be ready
and will partially support DX10 except Shader 4.0

7950 and Geforce 7 series will be OLD generation in a couple of months
so no need to spend your money right now...just be patient

Also Radeon R600
will be ready from December\January 2007 with full DX10 support, Unified Shaders and it's going to be a BEAST but i guess that's a long time for you

wait. your card is more than good enough to play anything out now. if you a month or so after the next rollout you should be able to get the 'gt' vers of g80 for a reasonable price.

Now if they can get crossfire workin right with enough support then they might be able to say future proof : )

SLI > Crossfire = me buying Nvidia because its a smarter long term move.

if crossfire support is going to be the same as their regular driver support it does not look very promising at this time.

no the 7800GT is still a great card, wait for the next 2 gen of cards. going from a 7800GT to a 7900GTX is silly and pointless.

If you want more power either pop in another 7800GT or wait for the Dx10 cards , If not the Sec gen of Dx10 cards.
