arrow The Most Powerful AGP Video Card?

Heyyy-yo!

What do you think the most powerful AGP video card from nVidia and ATI? I don't mean with the newest or most beautiful hardware enhanced technologies. I mean the one with most raw rendering power. Perhaps video cards that can have unlocked pixel/shader
pipelines and then overclocked to have the most power.

The X800XL looks pretty powerful.

System Specs

nVidia = 7800GS....performs a bit better than the 6800Ultra, and you get newer technology in it

ATI = 512Mb x850xt pe.....basically it's an OCed x850 xt, which in turn is basically an x800xt pe ......but yea....you want the x850xt pe 512Mb versio if you can get your hands on one

To be fair, it performs a LOT better than the 6800 Ultra AGP. I mean, a lot better.

7800GS has SM 3.0, 800 series does not.

Edit: There is your proof http://www.tomshardware.com/2006/02/...et/page11.html

dude......the 6x00 series cards have SM 3.0. the 6x00 series cards are lacking in HDR. ATI x800 series cards have HDR and not SM 3.0

the 7800GS is the only AGP card available from nVidia that has both HDR and SM 3.0

and GDF.....lol......that link you provided totally pwnz0rz the 7800GS. the x850xt beats it most of those tests......and it's not even the x850 xt PE .

I was comparing the 7800 to the 6800ultra

Edit: SM 3.0 is a lot better than HDR. Take a look at Splinter cell and disable one then the other.

So then, most of the technologies included in Shader Model 3.0 are implemented with the x800 series anyways. : )

[hobo]eclipse will become famous soon enough
System Specs

search around for the Gainward edition, i thought someone started a thread that they had got the 512MB version and it also had the full 24 pipes rather than the 16 of most GS's

still though the best bang for the buck would be the x800xl from BWX for 100 bucks
all the cards mentioned here are closer to the $300+ price range
