Oblivion runs better on ATi's cards, while DOOM 3 runs better on nVidia's cards. FEAR runs great on both, with minimal differences.

Oblivion is the hardest game out of those on graphics card, with FEAR right behind it. What you need depends on the resolution of your monitor and all the settings you want to play at. Look below to help you make up your mind:

As you can see, both ATi's and nVidia's latest cards have no problem running FEAR or DOOM 3. The only game that's stressin' the latest cards is Oblivion.

How much money are you looking to spend?

Id personally go for a 7900gtx since it's cheaper, quiter and runs cooler and if you look at the DH review of the alienware system, in SLI, tis DA BOMB!

the 7900gt gives you the most bang for the buck & is reasonably priced - for high mid range card.

Well the 7900GT and X1800XT 512MB are similarly priced. There's been many threads around here lately about which one to get. Look at the charts above and see which one you prefer. They both run FEAR and DOOM 3 fast enough, but Oblivion might make all the difference for you.

Whenever I say You, I mean the Original poster.
