I got a new 7800GS superclock and.........
.......its the one from the Driverheaven give away back in March! BWX upgraded right before the end of the comp and then won it! LOL!! He hooked me up with a good price and it should be here in a day or two! Im pumped for 2 reasons: 1 newer faster, better tech, and 2: just tryin out some nice nVidia hardware. the only other nVidia card i have is a GeForce 2 MX 400 PCI, then i got a 9800xt, then this here x800xl. So i have to admit i m not up and up on what nVidia offers with their drivers. the main things i am looking for are x64 compatibility ,temp sensing, overclocking, and quick access to advanced options(AA,AF) from sys tray or other similar? Is there recomended nVidia tools like ATT to get these options or are they already in the drivers or would Rivatuner be a better option? and how bout them zeropoints!?!?!!??

them zer0points is the way to go
and see how you like the CP by itself...rivatuner offers some scary stuff and you can seriously fubar a card with it
nvidia gives you control over clock setings and stuff all by itself anyways

Not sure if it's worth it but i found it as a sticky at nVNews forum, give it a try: NVTray (NVIDIA Tray Tools) .

I think so... you just have to look around.
I think Guru3D has some over there.

I went form using Omegas and ATI TOOL with my X800XL and using refresh lock to get my resolution and refresh I wanted to going to regular Nvidia drivers and coolbits 2.0 and getting all the same functionality.. custom resolution/ refresh rates, OC'ing, etc.. oh, and of course game profiles that work perfectly every time.
I wouldn't be surprised if it doesn't OC like crazy though since it's already factory OC'd.. but it might. Actually I was amazed that card's memory is actually faster than a stock PCIe 7800GTX. I know my 7800GTX w/ ACS3 cooler factory OC'd to 470/1200 hardly OC's at all. Of course it may be held back by my PSU.. it's not even a 24 pin ATX, I use an adapter..
Tell you what- if you want to get in touch with a lot of people who own EVGA check out the EVGA forum, they are really helpful over there.. and obviously know a lot about EVGA cards.. You can compare OC's and configurations, scores, etc.
The forums are a little slow sometimes, and it;s constantly logging you out it seems.. but other than that it's pretty cool.. I'd register it and everything right away too. Life time warranty is nice.

Nvtray is a nice program for tweaking settings, It gives more advanced FSAA options like supersampling, Gotta have .net for it though. Coolbits for overclocking. I can get 490/1580 out of my 7800gs sc.

Also in coolbits there is an "auto feature" that is supposed to find the highest OC the card can take.. I wouldn't use it!! It said my card could do 525/1500 or some BS and then it froze my PC with nasty artifacts all over the screen.
It is NOTHING like the auto clock feature in ATI TOOL which is actually pretty good.. so I wouldn't do that anyway.
I will have to check out that NVtray if you can do supersampling.. real supersampling with one card and not SLI?? That would be cool.

Well here it is, its in the rig now and windows x64 loading,
BWX's mad tape job!
The beast yet sheathed:
The whole layout:
The card itself:
And lastly the 7800GS next to the X800XL it replaces:
Both huge car really, I recently picked up an Arctic Cooling Freezer64 Pro, last week when on newegg i seen it for 26 bucks so i got one, dropped my idle temp 2-3 celcius and load temp like 4-5 celcius, nice and quiet too at 1000 rpm less than the stock cooler, heres a cpla shots of it:
main rig is done loadin xp64 so ima go finish it off and test out that bizznass! ill get some pics of it installed and such an postem in a bit, gunna try out the .56 drivers Coolbits and maybe that NVtray recomended above.

Cool... man if it weird seeing a card I had sitting next to me for a month for the first time in a picture.. (for everyone else, I never popped the shrink wrap)...
Very cool looking card.. I might have to grab a new cooler for my A64 too- but the stock cooler keeps it very frosty cool even at this extreme OC.
PS- make sure to PM Z about this thread :-) Thanks.

Interesting note..
Here was my X800XL with my 7800GTX ... so I guess the GTX is a little bigger.. in a few days I should be getting the biggest video card I have ever owned- the mammoth 7900GTX..

Wow, i must say im impressed! Games runnin nicer and IQ is good, does seem AtI AA looks a lil better but i havent played around extensivly yet, HDR and SM 3.0 workin nice in oblivion, ran 3dmark03 at stock for 14858, and 06 netted 33xx, was hopin for more in 06 but not really concerned about it, now the cool part, with coolbits installed, under the clock speed area, theres the detect optimal frequencies button, running it set my clocks 512 core and 1.45 mem!! ran 03 and jumped to just over 16000 and 06 up to 3600, though during the 1st of the last 2 tests,(boat) the screen flickered black a few times, tamed the core down to 502 and reran the last 2 tests and they were clean, ill have to do some more "testing" now to see how stable those clocks can be, no artifacts though, only that flicker, now thats a super clock!
And BWX will do on that PM

1.45 mem wow.. my GTX only runs 477 /1.215 - 24 vs 16 pipes is the difference.. but you should have good results in games where AA and AF are concerned.. Lots of memory bandwidth.. Oblivion crushes my card too..
Glad it works though.. you never know when a dead card will pop up and I did not test it.. so that is cool. :-)
