7600 will probably give you better performance overall with its more pipes etc. What are your system specs?

Get the 7600GT if you can, it's better in EVERY way.

the 7600GT is way better, but it costs more. if you're on a budget the 6600GT is still good. I've got 2 systems running 6600GT's

get a 7600 if possible the 6600s or at least some have a DPC bug which I believe is what causes my jerky mouse and slow 2d performance. This bug was fixed in the 7600 series.

That sounds like a driver bug, not the 6600. I had a 6600 and 2D performance/mouse movement was fine for me.

Its a bug that kicks in with a combo of hardware so it doesnt kick in on all 6600gts, also apperently some 6600gts are ok people have rma'd and its fixed.

If it is a driver problem then its in over 10 versions of the drivers since I have tried a dozen or so.

The research I did and evidence is backing up its DPCs, since if the pc has more apps loaded and/or is under load the mouse is fine and smooth and of course is fine in 3d.

After replacing a 6600GT with a 7600GT, I have to recommend the 7600GT. It's much faster. In Oblivion, I'm getting much better frame rates and as such can turn on more eye candy. Yes, it's more expensive, but I think it's worth it.
