Standard VGA driver
Have tried a couple of times to get this to work but I can't so I could really do with some help
I have removed an ATI Radeon 9800 Pro and added a BLISS 7800GS 512MB AGP Special Edition to my Dell Dimension 8300. I have a good powered PSU and appear to have things running well.
I ran Driver Cleaner to remove all the ATI drivers and did the Cab clean too.
The problem I seem to have is getting it to display in Standard VGA mode which is needed for the install.
I do not have a standard VGA driver showing anywhere (there is no standard display if I list all devices) - I have tried the BOOT.INI basevideo tried going in to safe mode but I keep getting the Found New Hardward and the only way to get by it is to click cancel.
If i run the Nvidia drivers (after clicking cancel to the new hardware) I can get it all working and recognised but the second monitor is flickery and when I try to run a 3d game like far cry I just get really odd bright colours and the screen looks to be working in lowest mode which if I click auto detect is what it sets it to.
Can anyone help me get this standard VGA to work. I spent a lot on this and I have 10 days in which I can return it the only decent reply thats close was solved by reformatting the hard disk...
Any help would be really great! Thanks
UPDATE: Have installed patch 1.33 of far cry and all is good the only problem I have now is that my second monitor flickers still. I have swapped the cables over but then the other monitor flickers...any ideas on what could be causing this?
UPDATE2: I've solved the flicker problem its dues to the DVI to VGA adaptor. I now have full DVI cabling on both screens and I don't get any flickering - I guess there is now no analogue conversions going on and its nice and smooth...
