TOKYO Feb 13, 2006 (AP)— Japan's Sanyo Electric Co. is planning a U.S. joint venture with Nokia Corp. of Finland to manufacture cell phones, media reports said Tuesday.
The new venture would be set up in San Diego, where Sanyo's U.S. operations are based, according to Nihon Keizai, Japan's leading business daily.
The Asahi and Mainichi newspapers carried similar reports.
Sanyo spokesman Atsushi Watanabe declined to comment on the reports.
