Apple sells one million videos in less than 20 days

There is not quite the variety of videos offered on iTunes that many analysts thought would be necessary to make movies yet another success story for Apple's iPod. There are just a few more than 2000 videos available right now - which did not prevent people to download them in a rapid rate.

According to Apple, more than one million videos - including music videos, Pixar short films and TV series episodes - have been downloaded in less than 20 days.

"Selling one million videos in less than 20 days strongly suggests there is a market for legal video downloads," said Steve Jobs, Apple's CEO. "Our next challenge is to broaden our content offerings, so that customers can enjoy watching more videos on their computers and new iPods." Given the fact that users apparently are willing to pay $2 for each Michael Jackson music video and Desperate Housewives episode, Apple may be well on track to continue its iTunes and iPod success story into the video segment.
