Shuttle to start shipping SN26P SLI XPC this month

Shuttle stated it will begin shipping its SLI-compatible XPC (SN26P) by the end of September, with the product being launched in Taiwan, Japan, Europe and the US markets at the same time.

The product was originally scheduled to hit the market this summer and be bundled with two Leadtek Nvidia GeForce 6800 GT PCI Express (PCIe) graphics cards. However, with Nvidia releasing its Nvidia’s GeForce 7800 GT in August, Shuttle decided to hold off the SN26P launch until the company could complete its testing of graphics cards equipped with 7800 series chips.

However, although the SN26P XPC will support GeForce 7800 series graphics cards, Shuttle has decided not to bundle any graphics cards with the system, allowing its distributors more flexibility with their SKUs, the company stated.

The Nvidia nForce4 SLI-based solution will also support single and dual-core AMD K8 Socket 939 CPUs, up to 2GB of memory and two SATA2 hard disk drives (HDDs).

In related news, Shuttle yesterday launched XPC Tool, which is what it calls a complete system management utility. XPC Tools, which can be downloaded from the company’s website, allows users to monitor system performance, adjust fan speeds, and dynamically overclock their XPC, without having to reboot the system.
