PSP 2.00 Finally Available

After an odd unacknowledged delay, Sony has made the official North American version of the PSP 2.00 patch available on their website. The biggest addition is the web browser, though it also adds support for a few more file formats. The site also notes that "Depending on the software title, you may not be able to play without first updating the PSP system software," which will be a pain for homebrew enthusiasts who also want to play new PSP games. (Once they actually release some new PSP games, anyway. Oh snap.)

Um.. actually..there is a loader that can boot the game directly off the UMD bypassing the "required" update portion... but um..

You didn't hear this from me..

Snickers is on a distinguished road

Rediculous that they get it out now. People who got the Japan update with US PSPs don't have major problems (that I know of anyway). Guess they just needed to update the support to take it back for repairs, etc. Updates work for all regions, so seems weird to me.
