Default Post Ubisoft opens Quebec City studio

The French-speaking Canadian province of Quebec is now host to a second Ubisoft studio. Two months after first announcing its intention to open a new studio in Quebec province, Ubisoft has officially begun operations in its new facility at 390 Charest East in the Saint-Roch district of Quebec City.

The company intends to employ 75 new developers at the studio by the end of the year, and it's aiming for 200 total employees by the end of 2010. Ubisoft also plans to invest CAD$75 million in the new facility.

Also announced today was the appointment of Nicolas Rioux as vice president and general manager of the Quebec City studio. Rioux formerly worked at Ubisoft Montreal and is a chapter adviser for the International Game Developers Association, Montreal.

This is the second Quebec province studio for Ubisoft. Ubisoft Montreal was founded in 1997 and has since produced numerous Tom Clancy games and both recent Prince of Persia games. The Montreal studio currently employs more than 1,100 people.
