Square Enix to showcase FFXII this summer

TOKYO--Square Enix announced that it will hold the Square Enix Party 2005 on July 30 and 31 at the Nippon Convention Center (Makuhari Messe) in Chiba, Japan. The festival will be open to the public, though details on admission fees haven't yet been announced. Visitors will be able to play a number of upcoming games from the publisher, as well as get a sneak peek at the latest trailer for Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children.

As Square Enix president Youichi Wada stated during E3, Final Fantasy XII will be playable at the event. All other games slated to make appearances will be shown in playable forms, according to Square Enix. Though Dirge of Cerberus: Final Fantasy VII was noticeably absent from E3, the company has announced it will be at the Square Enix Party 2005.

Screw the game! Why make crap for the PS2 when the new Xbox is coming out. Make it for the Xbox360 and then port it to the old crappy PS2..

It's a game by Square-enix and everyone that plays Square-enix games especially their RPG's owns a PS2. They are not going to bother buying a Xbox360 when there isn't any games to play on the Xbox360. If you are a serious FF style RPG game player then your not going to be buying a system that doesn't have any games like that period. Hence the reason the game is being made for the PS2 and why we are likely to see more on the PS3 than the Xbox360.

I am looking forward to seeing this game although I am looking forward to Kingdom Hearts 2 more than FFXII. I'll just wait and see.

Ontop of what caqde, I'll like to add a little more.

You make it seem like game development started yesterday and they can just switch platforms with a flip of a switch. This game has been in development for awhile now. To send this game onto the Xbox360 and delay a release for the PS2 will just send a message to all gamers out there that Square-Enix is (even more of) a sell out. Furthermore, any money they hope to make off the game would be drastically cut down.

I'm looking forward to FFXII, not for the graphics, but for the new battle-system.

I used to like those games- but on the PS2- I just can't play anything anymore. I honestly get a headache from the pixelation and jaggies. I can't play my old GT3, and I didn't even bother with GT4 for the same reason. It isn't the game's fault really.. The platform isn't capable of smoothing out the jaggies enough for me to play it anymore.
