Windows XP Professional x64 Trial is now available

Microsoft has made 120-day free Windows XP Professional x64 Edition trial available to general public. The distribution format is either electronic (.iso file, free) or physical media (shipping charges apply).

System requirements:
  • Supported processors: AMD Athlon 64, AMD Opteron, Intel Xeon with Intel EM64T support, Intel Pentium 4 with Intel EM64T support
  • 256 MB RAM
  • 1.5 GB available hard-disk space
  • Super VGA (800x600) or higher resolution video card
  • CD-ROM or DVD drive
  • Keyboard and Microsoft Mouse or compatible pointing device
The Windows XP Professional x64 Edition trial software download is available at no charge. After you have completed the download registration process, you will receive an e-mail message with a link to the download page. The download page will include the download file and a product key for the trial software. The file will be in ISO format and must be burned to a CD or DVD before you can install the software on your computer.
The download file is large—over 550 megabytes (MB)—so the download may take considerable time to complete. We recommend downloading the trial software only if you have broadband, ADSL, or other high-speed Internet connections.

I have been using the official latest build dating May 7th, thats the non BETA. The OS doesn’t support Virtual Drive mounting, so Alcohol 120%, Daemon Tools and any other mounting application won’t work.

The internet explorer comes in two formats 64bit and 32bit. I have been unable to install Flash on either version. Most games work though; I am going to wait till 64bit apps are produced alongside 32bit. Using a 64bit platform with 32bit apps dominating the 64bit ones doesn’t make sense to me.

you relise that those "virtual devices"are useing a "32bit virtual device drivers".
So that why it won't work only 64bit drivers are only supported by the OS.

Those tools that you listed for virtual drives are using 32bit drivers, thus can not be used in XP x64 OS. You have to wait til 64 bit drivers come out.

That's right. I am fortunate enough to have jumped on the boat when the beta testing for Daemon Tools v4 which supports 64bit was open. The new release which I have no idea when its due works very well under 64bit. Thanks for the reminder about 32bit not working with 64bit though.
