Pentium M 755 on the Desktop - DFI's 855GME Motherboard

“To say that I was surprised by the results would be a lie -- a little birdie at DFI tipped me off. ;-) But I was still amazed when I saw it happen on my test bench first hand. The performance of the Pentium 755 processor at the default 2.0 GHz is nothing to sneeze at, but when we easily bumped the processor to 2.4 GHz with a single modification in the BIOS, the CPU flat-out ran! In our gaming tests we saw the processor out pace the entire suite of Pentium 4 and Extreme Edition processors, and compete very well with the highest end Atlon 64 and FX processors.”

That setup looks absolutely awesome, such a tiny heatsink on the cpu too !

And the bios, thats a great idea:

"By far the coolest feature we have seen to date -- DFI has started including MemTest86+ and CPUTest86+ in their BIOS! "

pepiman is an unknown quantity at this point
System Specs

I wish Asus included those in the BIOS .... but how big of a BIOS would it need? current ones are like 4mbit (512kb) and memtest86+ is a floppy diskette.... i dunno about CPU test ... buuut I would think another diskette ... so a 24mbit bios would be needed? (to fit 3megs)

Also I don't think it's worth it .... you lose performance due to single-channel DDR333 aaaand well .... intel graphics :S

Geminiwave has a spectacular aura aboutGeminiwave has a spectacular aura about

thats why you get an Asus P4 board and get that handy little Pentium M adapter.

And of course get a beefy graphics card.

I mean I was thinking about it and deciding whether it would be a limiting factor in my computing...

Occasionally I'll do video encoding, true. And occasionally I'll do some photoshopping...but mostly what I do is surf the web. Read email. Use IM. and GAME. Lots and lots of gaming.
