Over the last four years, methods of keeping a CPU cool have evolved at an astounding rate. Exotic cooling methods have come to stand along-side and even replace the older aluminum block style heatsinks whose effectiveness has reached an end with modern high-performance processors. Quiet and effective are the rule of the day and AMD’s box coolers for the Athlon 64 all feature temperature controlled fans while the Athlon FX coolers even integrating heat-pipes. Today we will be looking at a tower-styled quiet heatsink combo; the Freezer64 CPU cooler for Socket 754, 939 and 940 from Arctic Cooling. Featuring heat-pipes, aluminum fins, a quiet fan and a copper-base; suffice to say it piqued my interest.
