The Great Tiscali Swindle
Just about any company can have a rough patch, but few can turn it into an artform in quite the way Tiscali have. 3DVelocity have a first hand article containing tales of bandwidth capping on unlimited accounts, laughable customer services, sub-dial-up speeds and outsourced call centres.
Quote if Required: " For my sins I didn't take much notice of all the negativity back then. My connection was reasonably fast and I'd had no dealings with customer support. All that changed however when, on December 21st, I got an early Christmas present from the Tiscali bad news fairy. "

it reminds me of meh time with Freeserve "Unlimited time" 27,000 people meh self included recieved threatening emails from Freeserve (now Wanadoo) threatening to take us to court if we did not pay for our service , considering they had our bank account details when we signed up , seemingly they lost our bank account details without telling us , 3 months later they sent out the threatening emails

Tiscaly really do suck - my folks use em and their connection is awefull.
Half meg pipe which only downloads at 10k/sec and rarely connects at all after 6pm.

Agonizing over staying with NTL (300k / £17.99 / 1Gb per day "warn" level) or the speed upgrade when it happens (1Mbit / 5Gb per month, same price).
Rather tempted by V21's 512k "unlimited" for £16.99, but it would mean swallowing the activation and modem costs, and could be "out of the frying pan, into the fire".
For anyone considering NTL phone, TV and 300k, on the current price list (PDF), there is a "3 for £30" tariff of Phone, TV base pack (freeview plus 1 or 2), and 300k broadband - make sure you DON'T get the phone + Base pack at £19.50 plus 300k BB extra £17.99
