Also tomorrow, the Counter-Strike: Source beta will close. Valve would like to thank the thousands of gamers who participated in the beta and helped make it a success.

Package prices are as follows:

Hell I think they're ALL too expensive. Considering we don't get cds, labels, shipping. But then again I'm accustomed to having bought half life for $5.00 then downloading Counter-strike for free.

What the heck? I thought when you got a coupon you got HL2 - all of it.. not the cheapo bronze package..

What kind of scam is that? What's the difference with these packages anyway?

Eh???
You said it yourself...the coupon gets you hl2. Doesnt say anything about getting 'everything' else that comes with hl2. You should be lucky your getting cs:source as well.

I should be lucky? I don't care about these inflated prices, believe me.. SO what's so much better about the other packages? Not that I care about CS either... It's just funny seeing that a 90 DOLLAR price tag on any game.

You do get Half-Life 1 source too... to me, that validates the price in itself. I would pay 40 for that and 50 for hl2 as long as all the mods came with them.

I'm going to wait for the retail store package (if I'm paying $$$ I'd like to physically own the media as well) but it's good to know all of this is finally getting finalized. Hopefully we'll see HL2 sooner than later.

I'm curious as to whether all the third party HL mods will work on HL1 Source. Because that makes the difference between me buying Silver or Bronze.

There's definitely something to be said for owning the discs a box and the manual rather than just a cdkey written on the back of a fag packet for safe keeping, which Steam strikes me as...

Wonder how long we'll have to wait for the retail boxed version.

hmm, seems best to buy from Steam. The EB Collectors box for $80 is a ripoff compared to the Gold one here. EB is getting two returns today for sure!

Yes but with the collectors edition you have one DVD you actually own (along with some extra crap), with Steam you physically don't have anything except data on your hard drive and some trinkets.

You can use your HL2 voucher to get the Bronze edition. You'll be able to start playing CS:S immediately (after 11 am pst today) and when HL2 is released you'll be able to start playing as well via the Steam preload.

Seems like they are having a hard time processing all those CC trasactions. If you get through, you get a message saying that you will have to wait until they get a chance to verify the credit card transaction.

Seems like we get access to everything *except* Counterstrike: Source (pending CC verification, I suppose.)

Those prices are a little harsh, eh?

Finally I have a ATI coupon, so I registered a long time ago, and did away with the preloads well ahead too, so it took just seconds
to update and unlock the CS:S content.

Now HL1:Source and DOD:Source sits in the games browser too ! Great

These are pics taken @ 1280x1024 (LCD), all settings at high, no AA/AF. Notice the hostages floating in the air !
