3DMark Makers Upset with [H]
Tero Sarkkinen, Executive Vice President of Sales and Marketing of Futuremark, wrote in this morning with a directive for HardOCP to stop slandering their 3Dmark product line and threatens to bring in lawyers. I do have to think that this is a shot across our bow as surely ATI and NVIDIA have told Futuremark about recent interviews we have done with the video giants in preparation for an upcoming HardOCP editorial.
I strongly advise you to not to slander our product, 3DMark, on your web site. Take down all your false and unjustified and baseless claims about 3DMark.
Sincerely,
Tero Sarkkinen
Executive Vice President of Sales and Marketing
Futuremark Corporation

WOW.. those are some pretty strong words from H. I haven't read any article, but I believe that if he is merely providing an opinion then he is well within his rights to express it. If it turns out that H is just expressing his opinion after I read the article then I will have to quit using their products.
I hate to see big companies always trying to crush (literally) any other company that is against them. For example FlashFXP (IniCom Networks) and UltraFXP. They claimed that ultrafxp looked like their interface and it caused the guy to close shop and sell the source code. They just put a lot of pressure on him because they do not like competition.

Yes kyle is well within his bounds to post his opinions on his site but im not quite sure what is happening with hardocp lately, they seem to be enjoying legal battles and posting email conversations on the front page of their site as well as posting "leaked" slides from large companies.
I do hope they get back to their excellent reviews

what has futuremark have to to worry about? they can't make us like there product. the scores between ati and nvidia cause me some concern. i just switched recently from ati 9800pro to a 6800gt. hardocp gave an opinion on their product and they didn't like it. you gotta love it. freedom of speech. go hardocp!

I guess they're ready to bite each other
So the best way to drop down the pressure is maybe a little DM between Futuremark and HardOCP teams
Play the game you want, let us know the winner and all is over

i have been slandering 3dmark since 2k1 so are they goign to take me to courT?
i dont think so. its total bullshit and futuremark KNOWS it cant get away with it... no in fact this is what it thinks... it thinks its going to get WAY more well known for doing this. regardless if its bad publicity or not.
hardocp should have just slandered them without letting the public know about the email sent.... its not like everyone needs to know anyways, its just going to get more people to know about it.
but ohh well. i always say to use games to benchmark cause this 3dmark bullshit is BULLSHIT. just like hardocp suggests, i have the same feeling of them. i only try them out once released just to see what the fuss is about, but i will never use them again, real games are my concirn, mabe their good for a stress test, but thats about it.

very lame act! its their freedom of expression.
Futuremark should learn to accept reviews and opinions
personally i understand HOCP since 3DMark codename is "the gamers benchmark" or something like that.. anyway 3DMark05 doesnt have any OpenGL engine based game test. 50% of the popular games based on OpenGL games!
and their installer about 300mb (way too much)
it costs 20$ and personally i dont think it worth the price since you can find benchmark tools for free. now futuremark.. SUE ME!!

regeneration, u make some very good arguements, and those i have pointed out in the past to others aswell.
supposedly its the gamers benchmark, tho which games are like this? none.
their are games that are in openGL like u suggest, does it offer any? nope.
it costs money to post on ORB, does anyone have such a small epenis that they have to do this? lol, probably yes.
300mb is mostly textures and whatnot, so i dont consider it really big, most demo's are around that size, tho they have actual game play etc. this might stress some video card cappabilities through the benchmark, tho is it real life compairison on the games i play? no so it down right sucks, its useless and doesnt help me or anyone else out unless their doing a stress test. that scores relates to NOTHING, making ur 3dmark scores higher isnt going to help all your games is it? nope, probably not. mabe to a degree, but u can do that with the games u already own instead of this usless 300mb file that might cost 20$ or more if u want to post your scores. (more than once).
benchmarks dont have to be free, but they should tell me some facts instead of using lame things to convince me its going to tell me how good my card is compaired to something else, lol, dont make me laugh, the only thing to do that would be to test the games that are currently out, or future games not released yet, i dont see anywhere that 3dmark is going to release a game? nope.
