Hello,
Thank you for starting this post in the HardOCP forum. Kingston would not be aware of customer issues without customers like yourself. Your module may or may not be affected. Please call Kingston's customer service at (800) 435-0640 if you think that your module was one that was recalled. They would be more than happy to answer all of your questions. Kingston's quality and customer service is priority and we want to make sure that we continue to providing the best memory products in the industry.
Kingston Technology is recalling certain of our KVR1066x16-4/128 and KVR1066x16-8/256 RDRAM (Rambus) memory modules, specifically those that were shipped from Kingston’s location during the period of September 16, 2002 and September 23, 2002. The reason for the recall is that Kingston has determined that some of these modules may not function properly when used in select white-box system configurations. This is a request that customers return the modules so we may perform additional testing to ensure that the modules meet certain performance criteria. Please note that these modules do not pose any safety risks and therefore this is not a safety recall.
Kingston is asking our customers to return any KVR1066x16-4/128 and KVR1066x16-8/ modules which were shipped between the dates of September 16, 2002 and September 23, 2002. All modules sold outside of this timeframe are not affected. Kingston will conduct additional testing on these modules and in return provide customers with modules that have successfully completed our testing process. We expect the process to take between four to six weeks, depending on the volume of returns.
This is an isolated incident and Kingston has already contacted our channel partners to initiate the return process. "
