the post has been concluded to be a fake. The story so far someone hacked newell's account and posted the phony information in hopes of exciting people. whats funny though is how they managed to hack into a IPB account arent they the safest forum acounts available? anwyways heres the links to the story.

I'd like to think that but the preload, for now at least, is entirely textures for the game and nothing else.
This preload was planned to upload everything that won't be changed, from now until HL2's release, on to ppl computers. So its still possible for Valve to be a good few months away from gold.

My guess is that they're staging it. Putting everything up at once would be pretty brutal.

I do think you are right about the order, they are phasing things so they can change things if needed though.

I'm thinking the correct wording here would be "delay" things "when" needed.

I never could've imagined so much drama involved in the production of a videogame. I'm just waiting for the next to happen before it's "gold".
