Computers belonging to the exiled government of the Dalai Lama were allegedly attacked twice between late August and mid September. E-mails --with return addresses belonging to Chinese academic and governmental agencies-- containing a virus were sent not only to the Dalai Lama's Computer Resource Center, but also to activist groups supporting the Tibetian cause. Jigme Tsering, manager of the Tibetan Computer Resource Center, accuses the Chinese government of creating and sending the virus (designed to "plug into the network and steal information").
The Chinese denied the allegations.
