Microsoft Lists Apps Affected by XP SP2

"In an effort to head off support calls, Microsoft has published a list of about 50 programs from both the Redmond software giant and third-party software vendors that require tweaking in order to work properly with Windows XP Service Pack 2 (SP2).

Among the applications that are encountering problems are Web servers, remote desktops, file-sharing applications, FTP clients, multimedia streaming software and e-mail notifications. A number of systems-management applications and games also require manual modifications in order to work properly with SP2, according to Microsoft."

Really? it was the total opposite for me, it stopped nothing.

first time I fired it up I loaded trillian pro

"do you wish to continue blocking trillian pro or......."

and by the time I was contemplating my decision trillian pro had loaded and someone messaged me. Not really a good first sign of a firewall. ive disabled it, granted its better than Ms's first abysmal attempt at a software firewall but id rather trust my security to a hardware firewall.

K.I.L.E.R is on a distinguished road

Zardon, I've had the opposite effect.

I was able to see everyone on Miranda but I spent 5 minutes communicating until I found out that even though the talking window is open the messages aren't going out nor coming in.

I spent the next 10 minutes trying to find what port I need unblocked.
