MICROSOFT IS dragging its feet on providing its latest upgrade to customers who refused to buy its new software.
SP2 has the unlikely codename of ‘Springboard’, probably because it was supposed to be released in Spring, but was held back until July.
It is primarily a collection of security fixes. It turns on Windows built-in Windows Firewall by default, has better browser and e-mail safeguards and enhances XP's memory protection features.
According to e-week, Vole is planning to release the software to those customers who have upgraded to its newer versions of Windows and Explorer.
However those that do not will get bits of it when the giant decides to dole them out, if ever.
