Default Post CATALYST 02.2 is here... WHQL 6118/9050 Drivers and MMC7.7.0.1 !

Driver Build 6.13.10.6118
7.74-020709A-004733C
Posted August 01, 2002
This is a fully released and supported display driver for Windows XP. DirectX 8.1 and OpenGL support are included.

Supported Devices (Built by ATI):

<blockquote><span style="font-family: verdana,tahoma,arial,helvetica,sans-serif; font-size: x-small;">ALL-IN-WONDER RADEON 8500DV
ALL-IN-WONDER RADEON 8500
ALL-IN-WONDER RADEON 7500
ALL-IN-WONDER RADEON
RADEON 9000 PRO
RADEON 8500 / RADEON 8500LE
RADEON 7500
RADEON 7200
RADEON 7000
RADEON 64MB DDR
RADEON 32MB DDR
RADEON 32MB (SDR)
RADEON VE</span></blockquote>
These drivers, as part of the CATALYST software suite, are the first to market which have been designed for Microsoft XP Service Pack 1 (to be released by Microsoft at a future date). CATALYST 02.2 has been optimized for maximum stability and compatibility with Service Pack 1.

The ATI Catalyst 02.2 display driver bundle does not include ATI's proprietary Display Panel controls. To obtain this support you will also require the Control Panel bundle.

The Capture Driver bundle is also required in order to obtain appropriate capture support for ALL-IN-WONDER products.

The Control Panel is now separate download:

This bundle provides ATI's proprietary Display Panel controls which allow you to adjust settings for OpenGL, Direct3D, Gamma, etc.. This bundle should be used in conjunction with the recommended display driver listed above.

Check it out over at

<a target="_blank" href="http://www.ati.com/support/drivers/win2k/win2kradeon513016118.html">ati.com - Win2K</a>
<a target="_blank" href="http://mirror.ati.com/support/drivers/winme/winmeradeon413019050.html">ati.com - WinMe (9050 Driver)</a>
<a target="_blank" href="http://mirror.ati.com/support/drivers/misc/mmc7-7-0-1-nodvd.html">ati.com - MMC 7.7.0.1</a>

It seems ATI didn't update their Windows 98 page to the 9050 drivers...probably because they can't get them WHQL certified... You can give the WinMe drivers a shot...as they are the same core OS.

Well, I haven't done a binary compare yet, but...

1. These WHQL seem to be newer than the stock 6118's (DX8.1).

2. They seem to be OLDER than the new 6118's (DX9).

Both of these make sense. Someone else wanna run tests? My system is knackered at the moment. *sigh*

Default Post BUG STILL THERE !!

The "mozilla bug" (that is not limited to mozilla) is still there. I wonder how they could release WHQL drivers with such a nasty bug. Anyone know if the bug is in the DX9 6118 drivers?

Just to let people know that the ME drivers are good for 98 as well as it can be seen here . I am downloading them right now, but the site is getting really buggered, d/l speeds fluctuating from 0k to 40kbps.

Look at the errors from the download manager ...
Error 543 22:42:07 1/8/2002 Error #800705B4(Unknown error 0x800705B4) in WaitForReadyLock. Hehe that is one db monitor getting busy. Ok got it!

OK, that is why MS would pass these, but what about ATi, don't they have any quality control? Many people have reportet the bug, and it's very easy to reproduce it - hell it took me 5 seconds after I had installed these and rebooted to confirm the bug was still there.

Yeah, it doesn't crash for me either, with any of the drivers. That's probably why - only happens for some people.

ok...I installed these and when I restarted everything was really slow, slow rendering and when it came to trying to open GTA3 it gave me an error saying "Grand Theft Auto III needs at least 12MB of available video ram" So i'm assumeing my video ram is not loading...Or something of the sort. Anyone know why this is and how I can fix it?

I checked DirectX and under display it shows "Approx. total memory: n/a" so that is indeed my problem i sure hope someone can tell me if theres a fix or if I should go back to older drivers

It's nice having SP1 already installed.

This is what ATi is claiming on performance boots.

Up to 25% improvement in Quake III (1600x1200, Max Quality)
Up to 35% improvement in Return to Castle Wolfenstein (1600x1200, High Quality)
Up to 50% improvement in Serious Sam: The Second Encounter 1600x1200, Extreme Quality)

it's in the .pdf file...you can get it here:

http://mirror2.ati.com/drivers/Catal...ease-Notes.pdf

I'm back to useing the 6.13.10.6025 drivers since there the only ones that DO work for me. If anyone has had that problem where no video ram is detected and know how to fix it pls tell me, otherwise I guess I gotta get a hold of someone that works for ATI.

my e-mail is diszaszter@adelphia.net and my ICQ# is 85828955

I'll be checking back here also.

Did you clean your registry of all ATI entries? RegCleaner works well for this.
