New FarCry Demo

The first FarCry demo was a big hit. The new demo is now released and is available in two different forms.

It will be inculded in the PC Gamer April'04 disc. If you would rather download it, go to the link and download the 39mb file to convert the first demo into the new demo!

ok, i always check the links are working straight after posting and worked fine and still does.

thanks for pointing that out.i have edited the news post and have put the download zip file link in there with a small note for a warning.

Works great for me.......... I used DAP (Download acclerator) and it searches for alt mirros. I play the demo and noticed nothing different, the demo ended in the same place

i have installed the files and to me have not noticed much difference with one odd exception.

has anyone else noticed the shark!! believe me i have not shot at the shark to get it at that position.

That's because you need to bring the console down at the main menu and type /map research

Then i'll think you'll see a slight difference

I see, thanks for that. They could have made a Gui pannel like the new DoomIII alpha (with an option to load a map before the game loads)

And that damn shark is in the same position for me too. I think it would be better if they just make the shark animate so it riggles with water dripping of it for better effect.

In the original demo, I have shot the chain holding the shark and it has dropped onto the deck. Does it do that in this new demo?

I just downloaded and installed the files per instructions from Futuremark and there's an entirely new mission that starts up without any input from me. It has to do with infiltrating the Research facility and the starting point is totally different.

Thats odd.... since my far cry just loaded as per usual and no option was available to select a research facilty map

Did you install the 39mb update or something else?

The only things I've added since the original release of the demo are the following:

farcry_boat.mod
research files that include: FCData and Levels folders. (The contents of these two folders must be installed into the current folders in the game.)
campaign.lua

That's it.

I see, so did you have the option to choose the research map or did you have to use the pull down menu?

After installing the campaign.lua, I just started it up as a New Game. And I was on the new map.

I downloaded it again and this time it did work, but strangely enough, it still misses textures, some guys have grey heads, that are ovale, with text on it.

It's really a mod, not a real new demo. So that's why it isn't on the official site.

I don't see any of this issue at all. Everything looks real good on my system.
