Also note that Programmable SMARTSHADER only works with OpenGL programs.

You do not know about the secret partnership between ATI and Microsoft do you? There isn't one but there should be. "Switch from Linux to Windows to make shaders. Oh yeah"

I could talk you through writing some small sample programs and give some basic exercises to help you get your feet wet. The examples could be very simple things to start and get slowly more complicated as people grew familiar with it.
If a few people are interested in this I wouldn't mind doing it.

I am very interested in this. This would be greatly appreciated.

Very interested indeed. It does seem a daunting task from my point of view. I'll start playing round with the example pss files and see what happens. Only problem is - I dont think I have any opengl games.

None of the games mentioned above - I do have IL2:Forgotten Battles but it crashes everytime I try to use one of the shaders. I'm going to try again over the weekend - if I can figure out what the heck the things in the pss files mean. I've never really been good at programming anything - even .bat files.

I've started a thread in the Radeon Display Drivers forum which contains a link to the beginnings of a tutorial. Check it out and let me know where it's lacking and I'll try to incorporate your suggestions and requests.

This is the thread but to keep matters simpler for everyone, if discussion is kept in here it will be easier for Roger and Maurice. thanks.

)Ive been reading through the tutorial and seem to have fallen at the first hurdle.
When modifying the black and white shader to make it a blue shader, nothing happens. I've tried it with .b .g and .r and combinations but I just get the original image everytime.
I've even copied the shader text from the tutorial into a brand new .pss and get the same result.
Am I doing something wrong.
I really want to give this a go (especially as there is an XT involved

Roger should be commended - reading through this has already opened me up to the possibility of spending all day tomorrow, playing around with this.
He has lessened my fear of shader programming.
Thankyou Roger!
