I am not in the mood to start stating the obvious here, and I am sure no one wants to read same old, same old. The major problem that the past year has brought us was the nature of optimizations, or to be more precise, the abuse of the term "optimization" to describe techniques which, although speeded up applications, left a lot to be desired in the Image Quality department. So what is an optimization anyway? The easiest answer would be "to make stuff go faster", but that's only the half of it. The other half is that the result must be identical before and after the optimization.
