Should add "I don't care one way or the other" I've tried it, but I neither like it or dislike it.

Dude..

Linux... Let's just say Linux is a great alternative. Anybody play with Fedora yet? It feel so much faster than RH9

I use Suse 8.2 as the OS on my NAS box (Network Attached Storage).... works pretty good. For me I like Suse the most since it is closest to windows IMO. But I still like windows better. Too much farking around to get some apps installed on Linux.....

Linux > server = great

Linux > buissiness = good

Linux > home desktop = sucks

ever tried to get UT2003 to work on Linux... wth should i be annoyed with things like libraries and GTK+ and so on.. till Linux gets that kinda stuff fixed its not gonna be my prefered choice of OS. Even fedora,i like it but still to complicated with regards to gaming.

Imo there is no "best" OS, just take the one most suitable for your needs.

I'm running Fedora core 1 right now. And it is very nice. (Although the new GCC parser is causing me no end of headaches)

Using Gentoo Linux (unstable on my laptop, mostly stable on my server)

Only thing I use Windows for is my work pc and my gaming pc at home (when I can't get that game in linux)

Gotta say - I prefer it!

Oh yeah - DH server runs linux as well

For me, Linux seems pointless. Too much having to configure this and that. Since I primarily use my system as a desktop/gaming rig, Windows seems better suited to that purpose.

I voted: No, I don't like it.

How about "I tried it and liked it but it's too much like work learning it."

well... I love linux. I use Fedora and the latest release of Knoppix (11/23/03). Runs great. I find that Fedora is too bloated, but Knoppix would be great to install as a complete system on a hard drive... now to find a script to do that....

Thank you for making it a 'sticky' thread.

Now, I've only read about Linux and really have no intention of using it unless it becomes the de facto OS for most other businesses AND the basis for gaming. Computing has come a LONG way and I'm not at all that unhappy with the Windows-based OS. It's more what I wanted and wished it to be when I started with Windows 3.1.

I run OpenBSD on a PII secondary rig for a server, which is *nix. However, I couldn't move away from windows because of the gaming

DAMN STRAITS BRO
Although at this point in time I have too disagree on Mr. Burn's OS's

Overly priced and poorly coded OS's make Mac Daddy mad
XP although nicely presented still pisses me off

I'm taking Uber and Louies input here.
Time for Mr. Burns too wake up and smell the Demeral

PPS: Hey Z .. man don't we have a few too many sticky threads here ?
