Via KT266A, Epox 8KHA+. Nice board, gets the job done, but my Palomino AGKGA K holds it back.

The system in my sig is the one I use the most for gaming. While we have one that is technically more powerful and uses an nVidia chipset, it has a weaker video card than mine(an 8500DV to my 8500 128DDR), so mine ends up playing games better.

I have the crappiest!!! (for now)
AMD 761 north/Via 686b south-
But all in all it is still quick enough for most games, and very solid and stable.

I can beat that! (crappiest)
AMD 750 Irongate (Gigabyte GA-7IXE4)
Glorying in a full 200FSB (100 SDRAM), and powering a 1200 TB
At the time I got it, the VIA chipset/SBLIVE compatibility scare was in full scream, AND I would not be torn screaming from my old ISA cards - I actually wanted THREE slots, but this one had the most with 2.
Now, I'm down to 1 in use. and the device on that isn't used much (or at all).
The cards I had (in ISA):
1. Ditto Dash tape controller - driving a 3200 (but so slow compared to CD now!)
2. A trusty hardware ISA modem (I'm now a convert to the Intel HaM chipset on PCI)
3. I/O card serving as an extra parallel port for scanner (replaced by USB model)
Now, my PCI's are stuffed to the gills - Modem, Network, Sound, SCSI
I have just ONE left, and several things I could fancy adding.

You got me!- mine's the Gigabyte GA-7DX+ (a really nice board for it's time)- can't separate pci/agp frequncies from fsb- that's the main problem.

I just cant get over how many people are still using the VIA 266a chipset. I have been using the Asus A7N-266 VM-AA board for building low end cheap web surfing systems. I just ordered 2 more boards yesterday, just for this type of system. Add 512mb of Apacer PC2100 DDR (infineon) CL2 memory, a nice 8mb cache hard drive, and the CPU of your choice below 2400+ and it makes for an extremely quick and reliable system. And the best part of it all.......it's CHEAP!! I can build a complete tower for $300-400 with out cutting the corners to aweful much. To build the NF2 systems I have to add about $100 to the MB and memory price and then add on the price of whatever graphics card they want....(ATI ONLY). Here lately I have been building more of the NF2 system's, as more people are getting into the Digital video/photo and gaming part of things.
It is an excellent chipset, very reliable. I just didn't think that it would show up on this poll for peep's "main/gaming" rig's. Just curios.....but what is the main reason you haven't upgraded yet?
Money??
Waiting for a newer chipset to drop the prices on something that is on the market now?
Or waiting for the Athlon64 or Prescott to come out?
I am just curious, everyone has there own way of doing things, and reason's for doing them.

Asus p4pE mb.
I use my system for Audio and games.
Intel chipsets seem to be smoother and more compatable.
