N-Gage visits Edinburgh Games Festival

Nokia will be bringing its N-Gage phone/handheld games console hybrid to the 'Go Play Games' consumer event at Edinburgh International Games Festival from August 11th to 18th, the Swedish mobile phone company has announced.

Hosted at the Edinburgh Royal Museum, Go Play Games will now gives visitors the chance to go hands-on with the "game deck", which is due for global release on October 7th priced $299.

Apart from playing a number of N-Gage titles, visitors will be able to compete in a high score competition vying for the top prize of an actual N-Gage and various items of exclusive merchandise - probably including the lovely bag they gave away at the cringe-worthy E3 presentation - and try out the Bluetooth capabilities of the N-Gage.

N-Gage branded helpers will also be trawling the streets of Edinburgh giving festivalgoers the chance to enter an N-Gage prize draw.

Nokia UK's Head of Marketing Alison Brolls described the Edinburgh International Games Festival as "an ideal platform from which to give UK consumers their first ever chance to get hands on with the most exciting development ever in mobile gaming - the N-Gage."

"We believe that the N-Gage will create a real buzz amongst those who are lucky enough to get tickets for this event and our presence will help make this inaugural year of the EIGF a great success."

Following the EIGF of course is the N-Gage Tour, arriving in the UK on August 29th and stopping in Newcastle, Glasgow, Leeds, Birmingham, Manchester and London.

Pre-orders for the N-Gage game deck have already opened in the US, where the console will cost $299 for the console, charger, battery, stereo headset and USB cable.
