Silicon Ice Development is one step closer to the release of Urban Terror 3. Today we are proud to announce we have agreed upon a release date of
Saturday, August 9. The files for the new release will be made available beginning at
5PM EST (21GMT).
The
Urban Radio release party beginning about 3 hours before the release. During that time, we will talk to the developers and fill the community in on this development cycle and what exactly this release means for the Urban Terror community. We will also be giving some swag away, courtesy of our sponsor, GeekWearZ. You will need to be present in
#urbanterror on either ETG or Quakenet for a chance at the swag.
Team Sportscast Network will air the radio show live beginning at
2PM EST (18GMT).
Urban Terror 3will be available for Win32, Linux and Macintosh. The download will be approximately 200Mb, available in either .zip of .exe (Mac will have their own installer). So what is included? The development team has essentially created an all new game, like the jump from 1.x to 2.x, Urban Terror 3 has completely new code for lag compensation, hit detection, physics and much more. We have been hard at work updating the male and female model skins, along with tweaking current weapons and their skins. We also debut the new IMI Negev and the highly anticipated game mode, Bomb/Defuse. A fully integrated UI will allow gamers and admins alike to send commands from in game. We have sent many hours updating levels that will be included in the release. Expect updates to some of your favorite levels, such as Casa, Docks and Abbey. We have also added many new levels to support Bomb/Defuse and CTF. These are just a few of the exciting changes that you will get with the release.
As previously mentioned on Urban Radio we will be distributing files early to established FTP sites. If time permits, we will also distribute to some server admins, in order to get their servers up and running before the files are actually released.
