AOL USB Phone Beta Starting

AOL just sent out the letters to let testers know their phone should be arriving on their doorstep shortly. AOL USB Phone and its full features are unknown as of yet because testers have not been given any more details either. The one thing that is known is that the hardware is ment to be used with the AOL 9.0 client which is also in testing. I will post more information as I get it.

Get ready to start testing. The USB Phone handsets have been sent out and should arrive next week. So you can start testing as soon as your phone arrives, there are some things you need to do to get ready.

In order to use the phones, you will have to join the AOL Beta program, if you are not already a Beta Tester, and download the latest version of the AOL 9.0 Optimized beta software. Once you have done this, you will be able to use the phone and go to the Beta Area for news and instructions on the test.

To join Beta, simply go to Keyword Beta. You will be required to accept a Warranty and Non Disclosure agreement, stating you will keep any knowledge of beta tests confidential - please read this agreement before accepting it. Once you have accepted this agreement, you will be asked to fill out a Beta Test Application. When this is completed your screen name will be sent to be added to the beta roster and you will be taken directly to the Download for the AOL 9.0 Optimized beta software. Once started the software will download and install automatically. Congratulations, you are a Beta Tester! It can take up to 2 working days to process the Applications, so your name will not immediately be in the Beta Roster. Until your name is added, you will continue to get the Application, so be patient. Once your name is added, you will have access to Beta Central using Keyword Beta. Here you can get news and information about all of the tests which are available to you.

Here you will find instructions for testing this feature, any Known Issues which might affect your testing, a Bug Report where you can inform us of any problems you encounter during testing, and Message Boards where you can post about the test. Be sure to report problems specific to the USB Phone from this area only. We encourage you to visit the Beta area frequently to keep abreast of issues and to interact with your fellow testers. We depend on you to inform us of any problems you may encounter, so be sure to file Bug Reports and post on the Message Boards frequently.
