A REPRESENTATIVE of Nvidia in Taiwan has told a local newspaper that his firm will have a notebook chipset for the Athlon AMD64 microprocessor inside a year.
And, claims the Taiwan Economic News today, Drew Henry said the firm is ready to shift most of its Nforce 3 chipsets to .13ยต (micron) technology, with TSMC acting as the foundry to make them.
He told the newspaper that Asus is one of 19 motherboard makers to adopt Nforce chipsets, with that firm using it on 40% of its Athlon XP(K7) chipsets.
But it's not all light and music in Nvidia chipsetland. Henry also told the newspaper that Via has a "head start" on his firm in the chipset market and had both a better distribution network and higher brand recognition.
