Many well-known Taiwanese PC component manufacturers are now steadily embracing the Small Form Factor (SFF) market that once used to be a niche market. The key reason behind this new focus is of course the increasing rate of user acceptance of these small systems. Much of this change in buying trend is directly the result of technological advances that have permitted better features and performance by the high integration of system core logic chipsets.
Even with all the new entrants, SFF systems still command a premium price as opposed to a fully configurable micro-ATX system. You may wonder why this is so when the latter method is more affordable. The chief selling points for most SFF systems are their attractive case designs that are not found in the DIY casing market and chiefly due to their ultra-small custom size. These factors alone are enough to get consumers craving for these cool-looking systems since it would serve both as a personal computer and as well as a great conversational piece.
