An Interview with ATI Driver Guru: Terry Makedon Pt2

I was fortunate enough to get some more time recently with Terry Makedon for a follow up interview to our previous one a few months ago

Before I jump into the interview and get down to business id like to say that Terry Makedon is a great guy to have a chat with, not like the usual "stuffy, old fashioned" company exec with no sense of humour, who can make your life a misery when interviewing them. He is quite the joker and a fun guy to hang around, a big sports fan, hockey follower and music lover, our conversations cover a wide variety of topics.

Getting down to business and this interview, on the flip side of the coin, when talking about drivers and his catalyst program, Terrys attitude turns serious, and from speaking with him as I have in great lengths over the last 6 months regarding support and enhancements, his determination to keep improving the Catalyst drivers is very apparent.

As you read the interview you will see some fantastic news regarding future driver support and releases, along with some very interesting news and information. Im not going to give too much away here, so be sure to check out the interview over here

I would also like to thank him personally for his support to Driverheaven, and for recently donating an ATI 9800 pro for our birthday, he announces the lucky winner at the end of the interview text ! congratulations to our birthday winner !

Cool! SWEEEEEEEEET!!!!!!

Monthly freaking WHQL? They love the beta program as much as we do?!? New features are a coming of the kewl-arsed new kind in the forseeable future?!?!?!?

Not to mention a totally classy attitude towards nVidia's blatant cheating and latest corporate bullsh!t by totally rising above it?!?!?!?!?

Schweet.

Great interview, GREAT ANSWERS TERRY!!!! I thought you did a great job of asking some really interesting and pointed questions Zar, and I really felt that Terry was fully forthcoming about anything he could be and good and teasing about the stuff he shouldn't be.

Great job guys, seriously great!

SIDE BIT-Damn Terry, you got yourself some pretty eyes there!

Another one for the ages...

Just like Part I, I thought this was a great interview. Terry/CM is proving to be a great ambassador for ATi as well as a spearhead for the Catalyst initiative. Keep up the good work and hustle @ ATI, Terry - and of course, keep up the good work, Zardon.

I always enjoy your informative and intuitive views as well as Ben's.
Another great interview Terry and DH members such as myself thank you for your time.
My highlight was your comments on TV Wonder PRO!!
Which inferred 9800 PRO users shouldn't expect the same overall scope on this product.
In comparison to a high end graphics card such as the 9800 PRO.
(You can't have your cake and eat it too)
And such is life .......................

Congrats to Buenno222.... Enjoy your prize
Keep in mind guys (and I have received some feedback) this was a random draw.
Unlike the ATI SLOGAN CONTEST
I think some senior members cleaned up on that one including myself.
(Thanks for the cap and keychain Terry !!!)

I for one think it is rather fitting a newer member might receive something ...
POST COUNT doesn't mean a whole lot to me (ie: gerryf been a long time member low POST COUNT)
Ohh well still a member with over 10 posts as Buenno222... is ...
No spamming involved in reaching 10+ posts .. Thats all that is important too me ........

Have a Great Weekend Terry ......
Cheers Mate ..........

PPS: Zardon: Great work again "Number One"

exclamation

Another great interview. Keep bringing them.. Congrats to the lucky winner.

And I can't wait to finally see some new Linux drivers in June. The current ones are very old and have lots of problems. This is where ATI should release drivers more frequently. It's allredy just fine with Windows but Linux support is faaaaar from the same level. And I hope ATI changes this soon.
