NVIDIA Adds the 9800 GTX+ and PhysX
On Thursday, the same day that AMD unveiled - early - its 4800 series of cards (because some etailers were already selling the card), NVIDIA decided it just had to unveil its own new card, as well as some other good news.

I wonder which versions of the 8xxx and 9xxx will also be supported for the physics expansion and if that will also include the mobile versions of them.

not officially. However a few people on xtremesystems are trying to use a modded inf to work with 8800s. Lets see if it works or not. I don't have any programs that use PhysX or else I'd give it a try.

Apparently the 177.39 beta drivers have added support for other cards. So far only the 8800GT 512, and 8800GTS 512 cards have been listed to work. Not only do you have to install the latest drivers, but you also have to install the latest version of the PhysX software too, version 8.06.12.
As soon as I get the Vista x64 drivers downloaded I'll give it a try, and post the results.
Edit: Vista 32bit and 64bit confirmed working on the 8800GTS 512 cards (don't see why it should not work on the 8800GT too, but I'll confirm this tomorrow on the machine at work). Don't know if it works for XP, but a few say it does. It works on both the 177.35 and 177.39 drivers. You will need to get the updated inf off of laptopvideo2go.com right HERE. For the 177.39 drivers just dump the modded 177.35 over the 177.39s inf (and if you find the drivers, good for you as it took me 2 hours to find a viable download). Be sure to install the latest PhysX software (version 8.06.12). After you got both installed, and updated, just open PhysX, and under the "Settings" tab you should see "Geforce PhysX" as a selectable option (it will also tell you under the Info tab if you have a PhysX processor installed too). If you have more than one card installed you can even assign a specific card to do PhysX processing, or allow the program to pick instead.
Edit2: Just found THIS thread on Overclockers.com.

The card is fantastic, best money spent on a graphics card since my Voodoo2 12MB.
But it looks like there is a delay for physx support for it.
(not that it matters much since I will sell this PC by September).

Have the PhysX's drivers installed with the 177.35 CUDA drivers. Although I don't have any games/programs to see how it fairs lol.

Got this working on XP with an 8800GT 1GB. You need to use the 177.39 betas for sure, and the 177.35 modded inf from laptopvideo2go's site. If you don't you will get a bunch of errors installing the drivers.
