Hot on the heels of the issues delaying the rollout of Windows XP SP3, Microsoft has withdrawn Windows Vista SP1 from automatic delivery, just a week after initiating it.

What drove me nuts yesterday is that after 2 days of testing a gaming machine with Vista Home Premium x64 on it, updating it whenever it asked, backed it up, and had it all ready to go the next day, well the damn thing starts to install SP1 out of nowhere. Why? For one I had forgotten to turn Automatic Updates to Notify only, but apparently all it took for it to be "ready for SP1" was to update the Realtek HD Audio driver from 1.89 to 1.92. What the F#%@! I've had v.1.89 on a half dozen machines, and all of them had SP1 installed just fine, and I could have sworn SP1 was installed on this machine already, so WTH? <sigh> F#$K!
Well, now I gotta do more testing, which will delay me from selling the machine for another couple days until I'm sure everything is fine. <sigh>
