Ultimate Gamer Contest to be Decided by Gamers Ultimately
Just got this email from Visiontek:
isionTek, a division of Hartford Computer Group and a leading supplier of advanced PC graphics cards and memory solutions, today announced the three finalist in its Ultimate Gamers Contest and that the Ultimate prize winner would be selected by the gaming community at large. Contest prizes include three XTASY 9800 PRO 256MB graphics cards and an Alienware high-end gaming system.
Taking a cue from the current spate of reality TV shows, VisionTek decided to have gamers themselves select the grand prize winner. The Ultimate Gamers Contest required participants to submit an essay describing what they think makes them the Ultimate Gamer. The task remaining is to select the winner.
"We've read literally thousands of entries from some of the most dedicated gamers alive," related Michael Innes, director of sales and marketing for VisionTek. "We've heard tales of commitment and sacrifice nearly beyond belief, stories of obsession bordering on the maniacal, and also of missed court dates, foregone intimacy, compromised relationships, lost jobs, and failed grades. The one common thread among all the top entrants is a fanatical love of gaming."
The company has selected the three finalists. Now, gamers themselves will decide who is the Ultimate Gamer and Grand Prize winner through an on-line voting process. Voting opens midday, Monday, May 12th on the VisionTek web site and will continue through midnight May 13th.
VisionTek initiated the contest in a quest to identify the Ultimate Gamers based upon which entrants demonstrated the most dedication to a gaming way of life. Thousands of contestants have entered the contest since it began on April 27th. Daily winners have been featured on VisionTek's home page each day. The grand prize winner will be announced on May 14th.
