Nvidia GeForce FX 5900 Ultra Preview

Avault.com has just put up a preview of the up coming GeForce FX 5900 Ultra, be sure to check it out!

It seems like only yesterday we previewed the long overdue Nvidia GeForce FX 5800 Ultra. In fact, it was only a little over two months ago when the limited production, NV30 powered FX 5800 Ultra was unleashed on the gaming world after a six month period following its paper launch. As most of you are aware, the GeForce FX 5800 Ultra was somewhat of a let down to the gaming community and fans of the GeForce series of video cards. It failed to meet expectations in terms of performance as well as image quality, and ultimately it disappeared off the radar.

Recently I attended an Editors Day event at the Nvidia campus in Santa Clara, California. There Nvidia gave a series of briefings on their upcoming GeForce FX 5900 Ultra as well as a series of other upcoming technologies and product releases. At the end of an impressive day of "uber geekiness" I left with a preview version of the NV35 powered FX 5900 Ultra sporting a slew of new features and 256MB of memory. It appears Nvidia is ready to make up for the FX 5800 Ultra in a big way, and this preview will give you the low down on what to expect.

System Specs

Heh, they did their math wrong for the FX 5900 Ultra's memory bandwidth . . . they forgot to multiply by 2 (for DDR)

WOW! That is one butt ugly card and it still takes 2 expansion slots. Supposedly it would get faster and smaller and more efficient. It has a huge heatsink for obvious reasons and the card is long. Reminds me of my old SE1440 video/modem card back in the early 90's. LOL, so the video card wars continue..."Nvidia Strikes Back"

Overall, good for us, the consumers!
