Radeon HD 3850 X2 might come in Q2

According to HKEPC, AMD is considering letting its partners decide upon the fate of the Radeon HD 3850 X2 cards, and as we've already seen Asus experiment with a HD 3850 X3 card, it's not hard to see that there's an interest from the partners to make such a product.

According to the article, AMD is looking for a card to compete in the US$299-375 market, as this is the current marketplace for the 8800GTS. However, AMD doesn't seem too keen to foot the bill when it comes to R&D of such a card, and this is why the company is hoping that its partners will come up with their own products.

This article actually uses that ASUS card to verify the point it is trying to make, that ATi is leaving R&D to it's Partners rather than spend $$$ itself. The article holds that card made by ASUS up as a way to prove it's point, the article is not actually about the ASUS card per se.
