Windows Vista Ultimate SP1 delayed
Microsoft has admitted that service pack one (SP1) for its Ultimate edition of Windows Vista will not be made available to everyone in mid-March as originally planned, because of a delay with 31 of its language packs.
Vista product manager Nick White said in a blog post yesterday that Microsoft will now ship Vista Ultimate SP1 in two "waves", with the second one coming "later in 2008".
Customers running the "premium" version of the operating system on their computers in English, French, German, Japanese and Spanish will be able to get the service pack shortly, according to White.
But the remaining Vista Ultimate computers around the world will not receive the long-awaited update until the 31 language packs, that the software giant is presumably tweaking, are supported in SP1.

I don't get it? I'm on ultimate and I have SP1? am I missing something? or does it only affect those using the language packs?

Yeah, SP1 isn't delayed for ultimate, it's only delayed for people running alternative langauge packs on it.
Same as the language packs were delayed in the first place, although a much shorter delay.

Yeah, and it 'accidentally' showed up on Windows Update until someone at M$ spotted it and it was pulled again...unfortunately before I got it!

It won't show up for everyone, and there is a reason. There are some issues with some systems/drivers.
Trust me, you don't want to bypass this and just install it (from one of the leaked download sites etc), wait until it appears on the update site for your computer. I manually forced an install onto one of my systems and I got a major BSOD loop issue.

This isn't even new. Microsoft said they would be shipping two waves from the very start. People just didn't read the info, so they felt they had to post a blog entry to cool their jets.
