Last year, ET analyst Loyd Case wrote an editorial on gouging gamers about the high price premium gamers are asked to pay for "gaming" gear. High performance gaming PCs can be exorbitantly expensive, which don't always deliver an experience all that much better than something a little more down to earth. Not to mention, all the other gaming "stuff" is more expensive, too: Gaming mice usually cost more than standard office mice, gaming headphones and speakers cost more than generic counterparts, and so on. Of course, you usually get something for this price premium—the "gaming" gear typically performs better, has better ergonomics, whatever.
