DH Forum: Hotmail and Yahoo accounts banned from joining up
Due to the huge amount of spam we are getting from these two free email providers I have banned all yahoo and hotmail email accounts from registering on our forums.
This was a step I tried to avoid for as long as possible, however we are getting between 300-500 spam posts on our forum every week on Driver Heaven and it is taking huge staff resources to combat this problem.

Can I request mail.ru be reviewed for possible addition to this list of banned domains?

Good question. I'm registered via my Yahoo email account. Should I change it?

There is no need to change but if you make a new account with Hotmail / Yahoo, it won't allow it.

current account's shouldn't be affected, no.
However, if youd ecide to change your email address, you will be required to "re-activate" your accoutn with it, so current users can't change their account email to yahoo or hotmail, but if it's already there, it shouldn't be an issue...if it becomes one, let us know though

I love hotmail. I've never got a single spam/junk in my entire life . Don't know why though.

Excactly hotmail spam filter isn't very smart, it blocks alot of stuff it shouldn't.
In my sparetime i run some gameserver hosting and we have alot of problems with hotmail constantly flagging our mails as spam and we do not spam, we only send out mails when new orders and servers are running out of time.
Stupid hotmail

I got 3 mail accounts... And the hotmail one is totally stupid... Even if I say something is junk, it'll get through.
Anyways, I do hope this reduces all those lame bots and ads we kept on getting And hopefully, new memebers can still keep on coming!

It will reduce spam I feel, although not stop it, that would be impossible. However with regards to your second comment, I feel most people use hotmail or yahoo as a secondary account to their main ISP email so this will just force people to use their main account to properly verify their identity and help us remove the lame asses who love to try and get free advertising and interupt the dedicated members services in each forum section. Everyone knows here that we protect emails and identities strictly and they are never given to any 3rd parties, so I dont see an issue.
Anyway ill close this now, we have also changed the join up terms so new members can see this better.
