GeForce 7800GS AGP Black Screen Issues @ NGOHQ.com

Source: NGOHQ
_________
Many users are complaining about black screen issues while using GeForce 7800GS AGP. Most of the reports are from users that share common symptoms and issues. The most affected hardware is on the EVGA and XFX boards. Both firms have confirmed these issues and EVGA has even offered a beta BIOS as a workaround. However almost nothing has been solved regarding these issues. Both firms got frustrated and stopped trying to investigate and attempt to fix these issues.

Nice one!

If the NGO driver fixed it, well then it's a driver bug in forceware.

RE: 7800 AGP Blackscreen

I have a XFX GF 7800GS EE AGP and had the same problem, i searched for a solution for this problem and found a solution what worked for me.
Hopefull for more ppl.

Explanation:
The Default BIOS setting for the Fan speed is set to
50 percent for Standard 2D.
78 percent for Low Power 3D, and the same speed for Performance 3D.
I listened to the Fan speed changing from desktop 2D to 3D when execute a Game the fan speed didn't speed up.

So when u start a 3D game the Fan speed must increase, and it did not

With this BIOS setting some Games indeed went sometimes BLACK.
I think the Ram get overheated because of less airflow.

In RivaTuner I chanced the Fan speed for both 3D Setting to 100 Percent (apply at windows startup), I played this Games for long times and for me the problem is solved.
I left the 2D setting at standard 50 percent.

BTW my Card is not OC'ed
