its one of those things that are the best thing to happen to ur pc when u get it right...(and thankfully hasnt happened to me just yet), there's no worse case scenario when u get it wrong. FIRST i would check GIGABYTE website and see if the bios revisions are actually worth the risk of unseating your BIOS. a lot of the times the fixes are just minor wording issues like changing default dates....little crap like that. every mobo is different. with my abit board all i have to do is click the supplied utility and it automatically does everything for me all i do is sit back and enjoy the show. so u may have to do it differently. NEXT i'd recommend returning all settings back to stock(such as any overclocking) you need ur system to be as stable as strong as a mountain. u dont wanna be midway thru flashing and ur pc decide to reboot!!! as far as the particulars...check ur mobo's website.

Basically, when a bios includes CPU Code/Microcode it is to update the bios to allow it to recognize newer CPUs, features of said CPUs, or make changes to correct issues that might have cropped up with certain ones. In particular they will add support for CPUs that were released after the board/bios version was released as long as the board supports the use of them.

Most times, if all the bios update does it make changes to the code/microcode then you really don't need to update the bios. There is mention of the RAID support being set to "disabled by default" from "enabled by default", but that is a minor change. As the saying goes, if it ain't broke, don't fix it. So, if you board works fine, and you have no issues, then there really is no need to update.
