4x vs 8x AGP

Thinking of changing motherboards, currently have the ASUS P4B533 which only supports 4x AGP , would like to go with a 8xAGP motherboard to go with my 9700 PRO just wondering if the gains are worth the upgrade. Reading some of the reviews it does not sound like there is much .

The impression that I got was that 8x AGP wasn't needed at all, and that nothing today even comes close to hitting the maximum limits of 4x AGP, much less 8x AGP. The AGP speed is not a reason to upgrade by any means... I would only recommend 8x over 4x if someone needed a new motherboard and had to choose between the two and didn't already have one of the two.......

You have no need for 8x now..... Maybe in a year, but not now.

just my 2 cents

I'd wait until spring, Intel's going to release 2 more chipsets 1 being the springdale. They are more optimized for home-use than the granite-bay chipset and will support ddr2700 in dual-channel.
Upgrading just for 8x agp isn't worth it, and in my opinion unless yer running a server neither is getting a granite-bay chipset, only ddr 2100 support
