pentium d 820 with intel D945PSN

hi i will be purchasing this combo pentium d 820 with intel D945PSN and i would like to know is this motherboard good for this cpu? in terms of oc etc....if not what other boarsd would u recommnd pelase include model number =) so far i have my eyes on teh asus p5ld2

System Specs

Intel boards are built for stability and reliability - not overclocking at all. Look around some more and wait for some other responses here. Also, look in the overclockers forum here and look at the sigs of those who overclock - check the boards they use that also have the 945 or better chipsets that support the dual-core processors.

i'm using an asus p5ld2 - it's got the 945 chipset and ich7-r for sata and IDE raid.

overclocks quite well too

IF you wanna OC one of those, have a VERY beefy power supply and a VERY beefy heatsink & fan (better yet watercool it) and make sure the mobo you get has lots of big capacitors.....those things suck up power like hell

i'm running a zalman cnps9500led air cooler, gets my 640 down to 33° with a 20° ambient temp - and i can't hear it over my 3 120mm fans running at about 6 volts
