front panel audio connect ???

I have an ASUS A8N-SLI Deluxe mobo and some Japanese brand case. The case has a 4 pin connector for the front panel audio. The pins on the mobo are 10-1 pin fp audio . I connected all four pins to the corresponding pins of the mobo and proceeded to boot up my computer. It all seemed fine till I tried to play any type of sound. The front channel of my on-board audio would not work. But the rear channel did. I then disconnected the fp audio wires from my case to the mobo. Put those blue clip thingys back where they originally were and front channel sound came back. Anyone know if im connecting something wrong ??? Would love to use my front panel audio plugs...

oh ya ....this is how i connected it:

Case.......................... Mobo

Audio-L................ BLINE_OUT_L
empty.................... Line out_L
empty.................... NC
Audio-R................ BLINE_OUT_R
empty.................... Line out_R
empty.................... +5VA
empty.................... MICPWR
Audio-GND............ AGND
Audio-MIC............ MIC2

this is the way the case's instructions told me to connect it.

Welcome to the forums, fobulous!

From what you've posted the only difference should be that you connect the Audio-L to Line out_L, and Audio-R to Line out_R.

What I'm concerned about is that there is only 4 pins on that FP connector. The MIC may not work as there is no power for it (if it does sound will come in as a whisper), and you may have feedback since it's not grounded unless there are 2 black wires routed into that 1 ground pin.

i didnt really know much about those connectors and i did some research on them. it seems like i'm missing a couple of pins. but the instructions also only show a picture for only those 4 pins. i dont know... maybe the wires are hiding somewhere in my case?? but i'll try to switch those left and right audio ones... hopefully the mic one works....havent tried it since i disconnected it..... but thanks alot for the help !!

micbias/power should be connected for the mic

with this sort of things ground is shared - so a single ground pin is usually sufficient
