Replacing power system
How difficult is it to replace a power supply? Any suggestions warnings etc?

It's normally very easy until you get to the cable arrangement. Just shut the computer down. Turn off the old supply at it's switch and/or unplug it from the back. Hold in the power button for 10 seconds to discharge every thing. Then simply swap out the supplies. Just remember try spread out the items out, don't put too many items on one cable.

thanks, cabling is very confusing so I will swap one at a time and will spread out the devices etc

my mom can change a power supply, and the only thing she knows about computers is card games

It's pretty simple. Just disconnect everything from the old PSU. Unscrew it from the back of the case. Line up the new PSU and screw it back in. Once that is done, you can figure out the wiring. Oh btw, you can reset your bios and remove the battery for a few hrs to make sure you don't have any issues with the new PSU. This isn't necessary though

Just let everyone know I was amused and not insulted by the responses and appreciated the advice,,,,I was trying to respond with humor
Changing the power supply was easy because I followed the advice not to disconnect the old supply from the drives etc and then replace each cable series one at a time, Thanks everyone!
